| In addition to the cooperation within our own network, we also work together with competency networks in medicine, the study centre of the German association for surgery (SDGC), the telematics platform for medical research networks and other networks, including European, (such as ECRIN) to exploit synergies and to develop unified solutions for general requirements and problems.
The KKS Network works intensively with specific partners, such as in quality management and training and continuing education. There are also a number of cooperative arrangements with local, national and European partners and study groups. There are links with several hundred testing centres in up to six countries. COMPETENCE NETWORKS IN MEDICINE In Establishments in research and the care of defined illnesses contribute their competency nationwide to the competency networks in medicine. Supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), this is intended to achieve horizontal (from establishment to establishment) and vertical (from research to everyday medical practice) integration of the service providers in clinical research and patient care. The goal of the competency networks in medicine is to improve the quality and the orientation of results in research, improvement in medical training and further education as well as to accelerate the transfer of research results in the provision of health care. The KKS Network works together with numerous competency networks in medicine and deals with general problems in this context. Technology & Methods platform for medical research networks(TMF E.V.) The Technology & Methods platform for medical research(TMF e.V.)is an amalgamation of research associations and nationally operating medical research establishments. Currently, the Coordinating Centres for Clinical Trials (KKS), the competency networks in medicine (KN) as well as the National Genome Research Network, various networks for rare diseases and several other medical research associations are organised in the TMF. It is the aim of the TMF to coordinate and represent the interests of networked research and to create structures in the interests of research. The members within the TMF work together on questions and problems which are of a more cross-functional character in medical research. The main focus lies in the area of telematics, however, the TMF also offers a platform for other aspects in cooperative medical research which go beyond this. STUDY GROUPS The KKS Network also works together with various study groups and networks on specific projects, for example, amongst others with the German Hodgkin’s lymphoma study group, the study group Hodgkin’s disease in childhood and adolescence (GPOH-HD), the chronic lymphatic leukaemia study group and the neuroblastoma study group. The KKS Network also cooperates with the RegiSCAR Group (European Registry of Severe Cutaneous Adverse Drug Reactions), the EORTC, the networks for rare diseases as well as various groups with an emphasis in oncology. STUDY CENTRE OF THE GERMAN ASSOCIATION FOR SURGERY (SDGC) The study centre of the German Association for Surgery (SDGC) has been a permanent cooperation partner in the KKS Network since July 2005. The SDGC can be understood as a service organisation for clinical surgeons of all disciplines concerning questions about clinical trials in surgery. The job of the SDGC is to plan, carry out and evaluate multi-centre, randomised, operative trials in cooperation with existing coordinating centres for clinical trials. The SDGC carries out trials in which operative strategies, surgical techniques or surgical materials are compared. Development of the SDGC
