| The KKS Network has a professional structure for clinical trials in paediatrics. Six coordinating centres offer scientific services specifically designed for the special requirements of clinical research in the paediatric field.
The paediatric modules have been combined into a network, PAED Net , to promote research with children for children throughout Germany. The PAED Net offers a similar range of services to those of the Coordinating Centres for Clinical Trials, but they are specifically adapted to the special requirements of paediatrics. In addition to trials conducted by the pharmaceutical industry, the most important segment is non-commercial investigator-initiated trials (IITs). The PAED Net regularly cooperates with KKS sites without a PAED module when conducting paediatric trials. The PAED Net works with numerous paediatrics practices and non-university children's hospitals throughout Germany. The paediatric network is supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. MODULES Paediatric modules have been established at six KKS sites:
In order to make an important contribution to the improvement of children’s medical care. Paediatric clinical studies are planned and carried out here with specially trained personnel. The Paed Net operates with the following objectives:
